DJ Promoter News and Information
London Calling 2005 - Review and Photos
DJpromoter.com attended the first ever London Calling, a new music conference dedicated to electronic, dance and urban music. The conference was held on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th June at Earl's Court Exhibition Centre, London. It provides a great opportunity for, amongst other things; promoting, industry networking, A&R, equipment demos, and information gathering.
On Friday 10th, DJpromoter.com spent most of the day attending a series of seminars which were a mix of presentations and discussion forums. Those of you out there who have attended the Miami WMC will be familiar with this format. The seminars that we attended covered the following subject areas:
- Digital Music Stores
- Exploiting Revenue Opportunities On Mobile
- Online Distribution
- Direct Marketing
- Creative Marketing and Artist Branding
Information gathered from the seminars will be published within future articles in this section of the website.
On Saturday 11th, the conference was noticeably busier than the Friday, and so DJpromoter.com spent the majority of the time browsing the exhibitors' stands and exchanging contact details. It was also interesting to see so many DJ equipment demonstrations trying to operate simultaneiously, which as you can imagine wasn't helped by the acoustics in the exhibition centre.
DJpromoter.com managed to capture some photographs from both days of the conference. Some of these are published in this article, and more will follow in future photo articles. We are happy to say that we have also provided the photographs to London Calling themselves, so don't be surprised if you see the same images pop up elsewhere on the internet or even traditional press.
And to finish, 3 images which may well be treated as eye candy to some of you...
